How These References Inform the Domestic Violence Intervention Program

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program at Mindwell Academy is meticulously designed to align with established psychological theories and evidence-based practices: • Integration of Evidence-Based Practices: Drawing from Radatz & Wright (2016) and Eckhardt et al. (2006), the program incorporates principles of effective intervention, ensuring that strategies are grounded in empirical research to enhance outcomes. • Critical Evaluation of Existing Models: By examining critiques of traditional models like the Duluth Model (Corvo et al., 2008), the program adopts a more holistic approach that considers mental health perspectives, ensuring ethical and effective interventions. • Comprehensive Resource Utilization: Resources from the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and the CDC provide a wealth of evidence-based strategies and frameworks, which are integrated into the program to address various facets of domestic violence prevention and intervention. • National Framework Alignment: The program aligns with national frameworks such as "Change the Story" by Our Watch, ensuring that interventions are consistent with broader societal efforts to prevent violence against women and children. • Trauma-Informed Practices: Incorporating insights from Wilson et al. (2015), the program emphasizes trauma-informed care, recognizing the profound impact of trauma on individuals and tailoring interventions to address these complexities effectively. By integrating these evidence-based components, the Domestic Violence Intervention Program provides participants with the tools and support necessary to understand the roots of their behaviour, develop healthier relationships, and pursue meaningful change, thereby facilitating lasting behavioural transformation and personal growth.
